Meet The Manager

Oliver Larkin is Manager at Fig House.

Oliver grew up in the family care business and has worked at Fig House since he was 18 as a care assistant before leaving for university. His Dementia Care Mapping qualification enables him to provide a person-centred approach to care.

Designed by us as a new home in 2012, Fig House is the perfect combination of a traditional home and dementia design.

Set in an exclusive residential area, tucked under Weston Woods on a hill overlooking the bay, Fig House is a private, tranquil haven with a feeling of country living yet being conveniently located in the town.

The home is arranged as two small independent units of 13, which have been thoughtfully decorated and benefit from numerous separate dining and sitting areas providing choice and privacy.

A fantastic care setting, a visit is essential to appreciate all that is on offer.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

Regular Cleaning: Common areas and residents' rooms are regularly cleaned and disinfected, with high-touch surfaces receiving extra attention.Hand Hygiene: Staff, residents, and visitors are encouraged to use hand sanitisers and wash their hands frequently.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Staff members wear PPE, such as masks and gloves, especially when in close contact with residents.

Ongoing Training for Staff: Staff members receive regular training on infection control, first aid, emergency procedures, and resident safety.

Safety Policies: Staff are educated on reporting potential safety hazards and are encouraged to bring up any concerns regarding resident or staff safety.

Support for Staff: We offer mental health support and resources to help staff manage stress, particularly during challenging times.

Safe Environment: Facilities are designed with resident safety in mind, such as with handrails, non-slip flooring, and easy-to-access bathrooms to prevent falls.

Regular Health Assessments: Care staff monitor residents' health regularly and ensure any changes in condition are quickly addressed.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Independent Assessments We have been independently assessed in our approach to infection control.
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
