Meet The Manager

Helen Oliver is Home Manager at Frethey House.

"As Home Manager, I believe that our residents should be treated with the highest quality of care possible, making each day memorable.

I lead by example and involve myself in our community's day-to-day life, making Frethey House a happy and enjoyable place to live and work. It is wonderful to see the smiles on residents' faces every day.

I have worked in care since 2009 in various roles and have educated myself to a degree level, completing my Level 10 in Leadership and Management in Social Care last year.

At Frethey House, we are one big family, and everything we do is from the heart. We treat the people in our community as individuals, understanding their choices, wishes, and dreams for no other reason than to make a difference every day. It is important to us that they feel valued and respected, as their experiences and life stories are something we can learn from."

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Our Building and Facilities

The original part of Frethey House is a Grade II listed building, and the more recent extension has the same character. The whole care home is set within two acres of gardens.

On fine days, residents often take advantage of our attractive and peaceful gardens, which offer lovely views over the Somerset countryside. They also enjoy regular visits from the local wildlife, such as squirrels and birds, and the fish pond in the garden is a focal point, making it a lovely relaxing spot.

The ground floor houses Hawthorne and Bramble, a dining room, and a living room overlooking the beautiful gardens. The trellis is covered in Wysteria, which provides the most magnificent aromas in Springtime.

The first floor houses Rowen in the original Grade II-listed building and Willow in the extension. Our home is spacious and bright, with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We encourage residents to bring important personal possessions to personalise their rooms and make the space their own.
