When friends and families visit Goldenley Care Home, they often comment on how ‘at home’ the residents look and feel.

This is because our team members, many of whom live locally in areas such as Benfleet, Canvey Island and Basildon, are dedicated to creating an atmosphere that is warm and friendly – supporting the residents to feel as happy, comfortable and independent as possible.

From our range of activities, developed in partnership with residents, to regular celebrations and welcoming families each day - we pride ourselves on creating a home from home, underpinned by exceptional residential, residential dementia and end of life care.

Activities Are So Important

We truly believe in every day being a day well lived, where people feel safe, happy and valued.

For some, this may be taking part in something as simple as helping our team to lay the tables for mealtimes, folding the laundry, delivering newspapers within the home or looking after our resident pets.

And for others, it is having the opportunity to rekindle a favourite hobby from years gone by, or to try something new – safe in the knowledge our caring team members are there to provide support and encouragement, helping to build self-confidence and feelings of achievement.

We recognise that some people choose to spend their time with team members in 1-2-1 activities while others prefer the livelier atmosphere of a group. Ultimately, we appreciate and respect each person as an individual, which forms a part of our commitment to provide a person-centred experience for everyone.

Excelcare-Wellbeing-Activities-Inside-We are also very conscious many people are worried about losing their independence and sense of community when they are considering a move into a care home.

This is why we organise regular visits to our homes from community groups, entertainers and schools as well as gathering the views of the people who live with us, to arrange day trips out to places of interest.

Depending on people’s interests, this may include popping to the local pub for a drink and some lunch, taking in the fresh air at the seaside or pottering around a local garden centre.
