Meet The Manager

Rachelle Minter is Manager at Greathed Manor Nursing Home.

Hello. My name is Rachelle Minter and I am the proud manager of Greathed Manor.

Greathed Manor is a Grade II listed stately manor with 5 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens that provide an idyllic environment for nursing residents. The home is situated in Dormansland on the borders of Surrey, Kent and West Sussex.

The Manor’s history can be traced back to 1816, but it was only between the world wars that that the estate came to prominence. It was at this time that the Royal family, including the then Princess Elizabeth, would come to stay at Greathed, joining for tennis parties and picnics.

Our Building and Facilities

The Home also has a long pedigree in nursing and tending to the frail. During war time it served as a Hospital for service men, and after 1958, it was converted to provide 22 retirement apartments for the elderly.

In 2008, the Home was adapted to provide luxurious accommodation for elderly nursing clients. All our residents can enjoy the stunning views of the countryside from the comfort of their beautifully decorated mini-suites; each equipped with their own shower, freeview television and private phones.

Activities Are So Important

At Greathed Manor, activities and events are an integral part of the lifestyle for the people here. We recognise the importance of a full calendar of activities for elder people - staying active makes a huge contribution to individuals’ physical and emotional wellbeing.

Regular exercise helps a person maintain mobility and strength as they grow older therefore we provide entertaining and enjoyable classes that everyone can enjoy, for example, our sit-down yoga sessions which help our residents maintain and improve their strength and agility in a fun and stimulating manner. These types of movements are not strenuous and they make an enormous difference in helping people remain active and retain their independence.
We combine the physical activities with social activities, we organize events that enable residents to socialize with one another. An active social life is encouraged here and we always welcome families and friends to visit – we recognise how a good social life can positively impact their personal wellbeing.

Our dedicated lifestyle manager and activities coordinators enjoy spending time with residents on a one-to-one basis to chat and find out what they like and dislike. Having this interaction is also very valuable for the families as we can then inform them if their loved ones are happy and getting along with the other residents and staff.

We strongly believe in involving families, and if for whatever reason it isn’t possible to visit your loved one, our dedicated lifestyle team endeavour to connect you through skype or whatever other medium, so that you can be assured that your loved one is living a happy and fulfilled life.
