Debby Potter is Care Home Manager at Heffle Court.
I’m passionate about creating an environment where staff can thrive and residents enjoy a contented and dignified life. The knowledge, skills and experience and continual staff development possessed by staff ensure that all residents regardless of their ability or level of care needed can be accommodated within the home.
Qualifying as a Registered Nurse at the Royal London Hospital over 29 years ago, I chose very early to specialise in elderly care and have gone on to enjoy a fulfilling career.
A highlight of my work to-date has been achieving ‘Beacon’ status for the Gold Standards Framework, which champions the very best practice in end of life care. I also works very closely with professional peers to ensure high standards are maintained and built upon.
I take great pride in ensuring that Heffle Court is home for each resident. Care is not just about physical wellbeing it is about the resident as a whole person.
Heffle Court nursing home in Heathfield is a purpose-built home providing specialist care for up to 39 elderly residents living with dementia.
We offer a full range of specialist dementia support at Heffle Court – including trial stays, short stay and convalescent care, as well as long-term care.
Heffle Court is well equipped to provide residential and nursing support for elderly people living with different types of dementia – including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and Korsakoff’s syndrome.
Our nursing home has a truly excellent reputation amongst residents and families for the quality of care we provide. Heffle Court is considered one of the premier care homes in Heathfield. We focus on therapeutic activities based on our residents’ life experiences and we even have a smallholding on site – Willow Farm and teashop.
Heffle Court is part of Caring Homes, an established, family-run care company. We’ve been providing care for over 25 years. Every team member receives our unique ‘Living in My World’ dementia training which is accredited by City and Guilds. It highlights the importance of meaningful activities and a stimulating environment for people living with dementia, as well as addressing clinical aspects of care.
Our ‘Food in My World’ training, also accredited by City and Guilds provides our hospitality team and chefs with the skills and knowledge to stimulate senses and increase creativity in the cooking and presentation of food. This can provide a much improved dining experience for residents living with dementia and or dysphagia.
Heffle Court operates an open visiting policy, where residents and loved ones may visit at convenient times.
As the Home Manager at Heffle Court, I have a qualified nursing background and ensure that every member of our Care Team receives the ongoing training they need to do their jobs. This enables our Team to build on the excellent reputation we have earned for high quality care provision.
Our home is fully registered with the Care Quality Commission and has Hospitality Assured accreditation.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications |

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
