Meet The Manager

Paul Botham is Home Manager at Hinckley House Care Home.

Receive a Warm Welcome at Hinckley House Care Home

Hinckley House is Avery Healthcare’s second care home in Leicestershire and has been modelled on a highly acclaimed sister care home in nearby Nuneaton. Since its opening, this residential care home in Hinckley has come to enjoy a very good reputation locally and attracts residents from across Leicestershire and neighbouring towns such as Burbage, Earl Shilton and Barwell.

Our retirement home is situated on Tudor Road and adjoins Richmond Park, whose changing seasons can be watched from some of our rooms. All of our bedrooms are of a good size and have en-suite, walk-in showers and TVs. The light and airy lounges are a comfortable backdrop to the high standard of care and quality of life our staff provide. We work hard to settle each person into their new home, encouraging them to bring their own keepsakes and mementos – and their family and friends along too for frequent visits. Couples and companions are warmly welcomed in our home where their well-being, comfort, and happiness are our top priority.

We think our secluded gardens are rather nice, as are the special features of a garden aviary, gazebo and raised flower beds. We like to see our residents sitting out at the picnic tables in the summer. And there is always somewhere quiet should you wish to spend some time alone, and get away from it all. It also makes a great space for a garden party.

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe
We are confident that our care homes are now some of the very safest places to live and work.

All of our staff have been trained in additional and heightened cleansing protocols and hygiene regimes, and these are being supported by a leading sanitisation system as part of our comprehensive infection controls. Testing regimes will continue for staff, residents and visitors.

We have re-aligned the resident in-house services to meet social distance guidance from the Government, for areas such as lounges and dining rooms, and for visiting entertainers and hair dressers; we are working hard to restore these services within the ‘new normal’ circumstances as soon as we can, when lockdown rules allow.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
safe-tick Sterilisation & Disinfection Devices We are using sterilisation and/or disinfection devices within our care setting.
safe-tick Virus Testing We are testing for viral infection when symptoms present within our care setting.
Safe Visiting Space

Avery Healthcare has invested in outdoor garden ‘visitor pods’

The pods, are a garden room specifically designed to facilitate safe face-to-face contact with relatives and visitors. Each pod contains a floor to ceiling partition screen and a hands-free intercom so that communication is clear and safe for use. They are fitted with internal electrics and two, low-surface temperature electric panel heaters – suitable for these winter months.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Our Building and Facilities

The light and airy lounges are a comfortable backdrop to the high standard of care and quality of life our staff provide. We work hard to settle each person into their new home, encouraging them to bring their own keepsakes and mementos – and their family and friends along too for frequent visits.

We think our secluded gardens are rather nice, as are the special features of a garden aviary, gazebo and raised flower beds. We like to see our residents sitting out at the picnic tables in the summer. Yes, we do get some sun sometimes! And there is always somewhere quiet should you wish to spend some time alone, and get away from it all.

A feature of all Avery nursing homes is our free Wi-Fi throughout the building which ensures that our Facebook page is well maintained, keeping all our family members up to date with all that is going on. We put special emphasis on residents’ life stories, one-to-one sessions, making the best use of modern technology and keeping in touch through Skyping.

We like to think that Hinckley House is a companionable and fun place to live for all our residents, for whatever reason they have joined us, a real home from home.

Activities Are So Important

Family members are very active at Hinckley House and the home benefits from their support and enthusiasm. With the residents, they contribute to the running of the nursing home and have a say in setting up societies, like the wine society and chess club, for instance, and what goes on the menu. We like to make sure that both minds and bodies are well catered for!  Here are a few of the recent memorable occasions:

  • The Mayor drops in for a bit of face painting.
  • We go on a narrowboat outing along the canal.
  • We have a patriotic tea party for the Queen’s birthday.
  • Snakes and dragons come to visit.
  • Newfoundland dogs are a hit with the residents.

Local community groups and schools are regular visitors, and in return residents play their part by raising money for neighbouring charities and associations. We take regular trips out of the home to places such as local restaurants, pubs, the cinema and our favourite garden centre. Our Facebook page here lets you see what we get up to each day. You can always join in with us, if you fancy it!
