We regularly keep our guidance under review, taking account of new guidance or when we are made aware of risks in any specific geographical area. Our Home Managers and regional teams work closely with a range of stakeholders, continually assessing risks to our Residents, your loved ones. We reserve the right to change, cancel or suspend visiting at short notice if required or advised to do so. At all times, we ask that our control measures are respected for the benefit of all loved ones, other families and our staff.

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Residents of Longview, located in Canvey Island, Essex, are able to enjoy the multitude of opportunities that Canvey Island, Essex, has to offer, whether that’s enjoying a stroll along the seafront, having a Rossi’s ice cream or simply enjoying the high street. Getting to know the community in which residents live or visiting places residents would have once frequented in past days is a great activity which aids familiarity and belonging, especially important for residents living with dementia.  

Some examples of activities taking place at Longview include holding regular music and singing sessions, and a variety of arts and crafts activities. These are proven to be powerful in a residential care and dementia care setting. For those living with dementia, these activities have a profound impact on improving mood and connection and boosting creativity and imagination.

Our beautiful garden areas provide ample outdoor living for residents, where residents can enjoy the advantages of nature and fresh air, which, in turn, positively impact wellbeing.

We understand the value of individuality, so you will be able to personalise your accommodation with special familiar items you may wish to have around you, such as a favourite chair or pictures to go on the wall.

All of the bedrooms are beautifully furnished, with en-suite bathroom facilities and the home has excellent amenities, including comfortable lounges in which residents can relax. 

We take pride in our activities programme, and you will have the option to join in organised activities if you wish to do so. Our activity coordinators seek out and listen to residents who may have hobbies or pastimes, in addition to arranging a whole variety of activities and entertainment to stimulate all residents.

Our activity programme ensures that residents remain stimulated and engaged and our activity coordinators take into account resident's hobbies, needs and interests. The activities at Longview are varied and, alongside enjoying themselves, residents can receive a wide range of health and fitness benefits from taking part. These activities include;

 Chocolate tasting afternoons

For those residents who love pets, the home has budgies and tropical fish, and is soon to have a fish pond, dug by local schoolchildren in a testament to our strong links with the local community.
