What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

We are working within the government guidelines to help protect our staff and clients.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Independent Assessments We have been independently assessed in our approach to infection control.
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Our Building and Facilities

From the moment you come through our door, it’s down to us to make you and your loved one feel truly at home.

Mayfields is built in three avenues. Each avenue contains residents’ bedrooms, a lounge and dining room and assisted bathrooms. Each of the lounges opens onto a patio area, and large secure gardens with seating areas and a sensory garden.

This layout enables easy access and circulation but without long, straight corridors. Doors, fittings and fixtures reinforce a sense of “home” but also have maximum visibility to aid orientation.

Your loved one can enjoy three beautifully landscaped gardens, including a tranquil peace garden and themed beach area. They can spend quiet time in the reminiscence room, or visit the hair salon for a spot of pampering.

Description

Rooms are furnished, but we do encourage our residents to furnish their own rooms as they wish. This could be as simple as hanging a couple of their favourite pictures on the wall, but they’re also welcome to bring their own comfy chair, or anything that makes them feel at home. The most important thing is for everyone to feel comfortable, happy and settled. All bedrooms have an en suite toilet and sink and a lovely view of the garden.

We have a call system, operated by a hand control. The home is secured by keypad coding to ensure that residents are safe and secure at all times.

Activities Are So Important

Our approach to care is a truly holistic one, always with the aim of nurturing your loved one’s mind, body and spirit. This comes as part of our promise to you and our residents, to help them to genuinely live a better, more fulfilled life.

It’s about respecting their individual needs, listening and understanding, presenting them with opportunities and daily activities to keep their minds and bodies active. Whether they flourish in a lively group activity or prefer to re-charge in the peaceful surroundings of one of our quiet spaces, our home is brimming with inspiration and potential.

We support everybody’s individual choices, interests and hobbies and our passionate Activity Coordinators love keeping residents active and entertained. They provide a fun-packed and stimulating schedule for people to participate in as they choose. There’s art and crafts, gardening, bingo, knitting, external entertainers and church services, just to mention a few of the things we get up to.

Music Therapy:

At Mayfields, our music therapists interact with residents through singalongs, playing simple percussion instruments and responding to musical cues in either a one-to-one or group setting. These sessions often prove to be truly life-enhancing, helping people to unlock special memories and express their feelings and emotions.
