Meet The Manager

Anna Pacyna is Home Manager at Monson Retirement Home.

My name is Anna Pacyna and I believe my passion for looking after our elderly population started when I was looking after my grandfather. He was unwell and was palliative in his care. I have worked in the care industry for over 12 years.

I started working in care, as a care assistant. I then moved into a senior carer role, and after 10 years, I was promoted to the Deputy Manager position. After a further year, I took over as the Registered Manager at a Care Home in Welbourn.

I know how challenging all the roles in a care home are, also how difficult it can be for new residents and their loved ones making that transition into care.

All the staff at Monson are supportive and happy to help with any questions.

Monson Care home is a purpose- built care home situated within the bustling city of Lincoln, whilst also enjoying the quietness of being outside the centre.

Monson is one of four care homes owned by Autograph Care, who believe that every person should live the life they wish to live.

At Monson, residents can choose between various rooms, offering generous living accommodation and various views. Each room has a call bell, an attached en-suite shower room, quality furnishings, a private telephone line, digital TV, communal lift to all floors which can access all communal facilities.

Monson has various areas for residents to enjoy, including two lounges and dining areas; a newly- refurbished café, which doubles as a fully equipped cinema, with large projector screen and surround sound.

The ‘snug’ where residents can read a book, or the many newspapers that are delivered daily. Residents are also invited to use the fully enclosed Mediterranean courtyard, with various seating. Monson has a hair salon on site, to meet all hair needs.

Monson does not have a private car park, but there is a public car park at the back of the home, via King Street, which is reasonably priced. Outside the home, it is permit holders only but there are a limited amount of permits, please ask at reception.

Monson Care home fees include 24-hour premium residential and dementia care with fully trained staff, an in-house laundry service, freshly prepared meals from the professional kitchen team, a daily activity plan that is tailor made to each resident ensuring that activities are always person-centred.

Monson is within easy reach of the city centre for all shopping needs, as well as only a short trip to Lincoln’s famous cathedral and castle, boutique stores, and lovely restaurants.

Lincoln also has very good rail and bus links, ideal for those trips to the local seaside or further afield.

Please call to arrange a tour of the home.

Safe Visiting Space

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Activities Are So Important

Activities are at the forefront of our care home, ensuring that all residents receive a person-centred care plan.
Our activity coordinator sits down with all new residents to discuss their life story and find out which activities would suit that person. An activity plan is then drawn up, as well as the persons life story. The life story is an essential tool, as this gives each staff member a brief history and understanding of what a person enjoys or doesn’t like, it is also good conversation starter and can make a person feel special and understood.
At Monson, there are a wide range of activities to choose from. Residents can choose from mentally stimulating activities including quizzes and crosswords, as well as physical, participating in easy chair exercises. There also arts and crafts, and cooking activities for those who are creative, as well as the everyday activities like bingo, beetle drive, hangman and more. Monson has regular entertainers in the form of musicians, talks, animal therapy. Monson believes that music is very important to a person, it can reduce anxiety, improve mood and memory and can also help people focus and concentrate. There is nothing better than a person who does not generally communicate, start singing or humming to a tune.
Monson has a lovely enclosed Mediterranean courtyard, with various spaces to sit and relax, enjoying the weather or chatting to friends.
The activity coordinator ensures that there are plenty of opportunities to leave the care environment and to go out into the community, either to go shopping, or visit the local pub or coffee shop. We also go further afield, enjoying trips to the local seaside, and other places of interest.
Monson has strong links within the community and have regular visits from local nursery and primary schools.
Monson believes religion is also very important within the home, and so we offer regular church services throughout the month. Residents are encouraged to invite their own priests/ vicars for private services.
Monson has an in-house hairdresser, who is on site once a week, for all hair needs.

We are happy for people to visit us first, and join in with the many activities on offer, as we know moving into a care home can be daunting.
