Meet The Manager

Dawn Shelley is Registered Manager at Pinewood Nursing Home.

Dawn started her career as a children’s nurse, working at the esteemed Queen Marys hospital in Surrey. Dawn has always had a passion for elderly care and whilst caring for a loved one assisting with everything including End of Life care, this event cemented Dawns decision to use her experiences and skillset and then moved into elderly care in 2016. During this period Dawn wanted to further her studies in this field and completed the 6 steps end of life care programme. With a passion for furthering her knowledge base Dawn also completed her Level 5 NVQ in adult and social care as well. As much as progressing in her professional development, Dawn continued working with the elderly in a full-time capacity as a RGN throughout her extended studies. Dawn moved to Pinewood in early 2019 as a deputy manager. Dawn was then promoted to Registered manager in mid-2021.

Dawn Shelley

Welcome! Pinewood Nursing Home has two spacious lounges, a large conservatory and an elegant dining room, all with French windows that face out towards the patios, flower beds and extensive lawns, and onward towards open countryside and panoramic views. We also have full disabled access with open areas to aid indoor mobility and a passenger lift to the first floor.

Individual rooms are appointed sensitively to provide all aids to living (overhead hoists, profile beds, air mattresses and cushions, etc) whilst maintaining a homely and comfortable ambience. There is a full static and mobile intercom system provided for each resident, telephone points in each room, and PC access by agreement.

Our services are about choice and this is central to all aspects of our residents' care. We aim to encourage our residents to continue making their own decisions about what they do and how they spend their time throughout their stay with us. This is Pinewood's ethos because we all need to feel valued for who we are and enabled as far as is possible to enjoy living as independently as our health allows.

Pinewood Nursing Home is truly a home to relax in and enjoy with your friends and relatives whilst all of your nursing and care needs are compassionately met.

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

We are working within the government guidelines to help protect our staff and clients.

We offer all types of training and actively encourage all care staff to complete their NVQ 2 and 3. We are well staffed and have good relationships and a strong rapport with the residents. Resident and staff safety is of paramount importance at Pinewood and we endeavour to ensure this by strong communication, regular meetings, open-door policies and ensuring we follow all regulatory guidelines as a minimum.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Independent Assessments We have been independently assessed in our approach to infection control.
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
safe-tick Sterilisation & Disinfection Devices We are using sterilisation and/or disinfection devices within our care setting.
safe-tick Virus Testing We are testing for viral infection when symptoms present within our care setting.
Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
