Meet The Manager

Martyn Dawes is Registered Manager at Plymbridge House.

I hold a Diploma in European Humanities, and two level 5 Diplomas in Leadership and Management, and Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care.

Following 20 years in the Prison Service, where I worked as a Governor in some of the toughest establishments in the UK, I have worked in Social care for over 10 years at Home Manager level and above. I have managed Multi-Sites, turnaround projects, and commissioned new, luxury homes, and Retirement Villages with a Domiciliary Care Agency.

I used to be a real stress head, working in highly volatile environments tends to do that! However, about 6 years ago I came across a new psychology, a new way of experiencing reality and the world around me and nothing has been the same since.

I love travel and adventure. With my teenage son, I walked 250km of the Camino Frances, an ancient pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. It was a truly memorable and life-changing experience.

Activities Are So Important

Our activity co-ordinators ensure there is always lots to do. A busy programme offers something for everybody, including arts and crafts, cookery, gardening and more. We particularly love music and have regular afternoons with visiting musicians, which often result in everybody singing along. We also incorporate music into our exercise mornings, which can be lively with old songs to move around to.
