Meet The Manager

Michael Vaughan is Manager at Red Rocks Nursing Home.

Michael is now the 3rd generation of the same family to run Red Rocks Nursing Home since it was established in 1948. He continues to live in the grounds of the home with his wife, family and pet cockapoo, Maui. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management and holds Diplomas in Hotel, Catering and Facility Management and Leadership and Management in Care.

He treats the home as a family home and the staff team and residents as if they were his own family which is demonstrated, we are told, as soon as you step over the threshold. He encourages an atmosphere of professionalism, kindness, support, friendship and empathy which helps us maintain an incredibly low staff turnover rate of just 4% compared to *34.9% (*Skills for Care 2022/2023).

Michael Vaughan

Established in 1937 and personally supervised by generations of the same family since 1948, with the current proprietors living on the premises. Red Rocks residents enjoy the highest standards of professional care and comfort with commanding views of the Wirral, Dee Estuary and Hilbre Island.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

Ensure all communications with MDT is secure. We have a property wide CCTV system and door entry system. Our fire system, and fire fighting equipment, nurse-call systems and CCTV systems are all maintained regularly. We have audits in place to ensure cleanliness and food hygiene ratings are maintained at 5*. We use various additions to our nurse-call system that warn us of a resident's movement or mobilisation if they are at risk of falls or harm. We have robust drug administration and IPC policies - our last two IPC audits received score of 85 and 97%. We encourage all staff to take up annual flu vaccinations above the national care home rates, and Covid boosters.
