Seagrave House Care Home Corby

Overlooking the Stewart and Lloyds Bowling Club on Occupation Road in Corby, Seagrave House Care Home is a very sociable place, buzzing with chatter and companionship. We have three floors of en-suite bedrooms in a variety of sizes, and a top floor consisting of private residential suites which come with kitchenettes. An entire floor is dedicated to dementia care, where we have initiated progressive and innovative therapies that encompass residents’ life stories and involve friends and relatives as much as possible. We offer a shared care experience with our companion suites, designed for couples, siblings, or friends seeking a caring and supportive environment together.

Seagrave House has a large, enclosed rear garden as well as a fine view overlooking the bowling club. Residents are welcome to watch or join in themselves. Inside, the spacious lounges are beautifully furnished and make for the perfect setting to make new friends by joining in with the activities which often take place in there. As our sister home Glenmoor House is only a few steps away, we often club together to go out on joint excursions together, encouraging residents to mix and socialise.

For those residents who prefer the quiet life, there are plenty of serene spots at Seagrave House too, where you can have a cosy chat with family members or concentrate on a book, newspaper or jigsaw puzzle. We like to feel that Seagrave is a home from home, not just another care home in Corby.

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

Avery Healthcare has always made the health and safety of our residents and staff a priority, and the Covid-19 pandemic has required us to raise our exacting standards to even higher levels. That is why we are taking the innovative step to introduce a cleaning system into our care homes that is already proven to kill 99.9% of viruses, including MRSA, e-Coli, norovirus and the SARS virus (which is similar to Cov-2, which causes Covid-19).

Avery is now leading in the care sector with the testing of an established cleaning system that refreshes and sanitises a bedroom in less than an hour, with a larger capacity variant addressing communal areas. Keeping both areas clean in this way will be an effective method in how Avery care homes manage their environments, to keep them as virus and bacteria-free as possible.

All Avery homes are now equipped with Topaz Machines ready for when we can allow visiting into the homes. The system hosts two units, one larger which dispenses hand sanitiser to visitors upon arrival and exit; it also provides an important messaging display screen to advise visitors of the latest news, and the other, a smaller screen, which operates as a thermal checker so that we can support temperature checks of those entering the building. Yet another fantastic piece of technology that provides relatives with safer, more efficient visits with their loved ones.

As we’ve learned during this pandemic, we are all in this together. We want our residents, staff, and their respective families to know that when they are in an Avery care home, that it is one of the safest and cleanest places to be. We also want relatives to be confident that their loved ones are being cared for in the best possible way, and for anyone in the position of placing a loved one in to care, to have the peace of mind that an Avery home will be a clean and safe haven.

Avery Healthcare has invested in outdoor garden ‘visitor pods’

The pods, are a garden room specifically designed to facilitate safe face-to-face contact with relatives and visitors. Each pod contains a floor to ceiling partition screen and a hands-free intercom so that communication is clear and safe for use. They are fitted with internal electrics and two, low-surface temperature electric panel heaters – suitable for these winter months.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Activities Are So Important

Some of our residents may have read The Hungry Caterpillar book with their grandchildren, but here at Seagrave, we watched our very own caterpillars turn into beautiful butterflies. We had special holding nets for them and it was exciting day when we let them fly free. Check out our Facebook page to see. This was just one of the many activities in the varied programme that our Activity Coordinators devise for the residents, who are never too old to learn something new. As well as watching caterpillars turn into butterflies we have activities with more immediate results – plenty of art classes, chair exercises to keep the body trim and numerous outings to stimulate the mind. We like to have a rounded programme.

As our home overlooks the Bowls Club, we are ideally located for anyone who wants to touch up their game or learn how to bowl. We have built up strong ties with local sports clubs and other members of the local community and often enjoy the company of local schools, experts who give us talks and performers who come to entertain us – rock and roll anyone?  Or the bagpipes perhaps? Our Facebook pages will keep you up to date.
