Marie-Claire Foale is Manager at Seymour Court Nursing and Care Home.
Marie-Claire’s experience in the care industry spans decades; she grew up in a family-run home, which equipped her with the passion for caring for and empowering the elderly at the end of their lives, and a firm belief in dignity when dying.
During her time at Seymour Court, the home has won six regional awards and four national awards at the Great British Care Awards, including for Activities Co-Ordinator, Dignity and Care, and Palliative Care Home of the Year.
Under Marie-Claire’s management, Seymour Court has also won the Dignity and Respect Care Home of the Year twice at the National Care Awards and were national runners up for the Care Team of the Year and Nutrition and Hydration.
She is committed to best practice, leading by example and encouraging her staff to take every opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding of how best to empower the residents under their care.
Set amidst the leafy suburb of Mannamead, in a sought-after, quiet residential area, Seymour Court is an elegant Victorian villa that enjoys south-facing gardens and panoramic views across the city to Plymouth Sound.
Providing a high standard of accommodation and care, Seymour Court holds “The Dignity and Respect Care Home of the Year” award, in recognition of its commitment to providing an outstanding service. The team prides itself on a progressive, open-minded approach to residents and their specific needs, ensuring a strong focus on delivering personalised and innovative activities for all residents to take part in.
With person-centred care at the forefront of our organisation, we have committed to using leading industry technology to aid staff communication, the creation of care plans, and the smooth running of daily routines – all of which aim to enhance the quality of care we provide residents.
We also have a person-centred medication process, whereby medication is kept in safes in residents’ rooms, ready for staff to administer.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications |

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
