Meet The Manager

Shilpa Nair is General Manager at Southerndown.

I have been a registered nurse since 2012 and elder care is my passion. Before working at Southerndown I was the Deputy Manager at one of our sister homes.

I love working for Barchester and leading the team in the care and support of residents to provide a quality service that meets their individual needs. We have a truly lovely home and a fantastic team.

At Southerndown we are creating a community that is as homely, happy and active as possible. Striving to make sure the residents are leading interesting fulfilled lives is at the centre of our aims here. We treat every resident with the care that we would want shown to our own family.

Please feel free to drop in for a chat and to learn more about life at our home.

Shilpa Nair

We are situated in the beautiful market town of Chipping Norton in the gorgeous, rolling Cotswold Hills in the district of Oxfordshire, about 12 miles (19 km) southwest of Banbury and 18 miles (29 km) northwest of Oxford. We provide 24-hour nursing care and personal support to frail older people, people with long term illnesses, people with sensory deficits and people living with dementia.

Our approach to care is based on careful assessments leading to a personalised and regularly reviewed care plan. Drawn up with the individual concerned and with relatives the care plan provides the basis for medical and rehabilitative work, making sure that dietary needs and preferences are met and the basis for our activities work, which we see as the heart of what we do - to keep up to date with our latest activities and events, please keep popping back to our website to see what we have been up to and what is coming up.

From the minute you enter Southerndown, you will feel the warmth radiating from the caring and homely atmosphere we provide. We want everyone who comes to stay or visit to have a wonderful, memorable experience.

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

We are working within the government guidelines to help protect our staff and clients.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
safe-tick Virus Testing We are testing for viral infection when symptoms present within our care setting.
Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
