Rema Sankaran is Manager at St Michael's Nursing Home.
It’s been a wonderful journey for me to get here, working as a Nurse in hospitals and care homes across India, Saudi Arabia and the UK for over 25 years. I have acquired a wealth of knowledge and clinical leadership skills to help me provide the best care for my residents.
I started at St Michael’s as a Senior Care Assistant in 2005, became a Qualified Registered Nurse in 2006, promoted to Clinical Lead Nurse in 2018 before becoming the Home Manager in 2022.
I’m truly passionate about being the manager at St Michaels. I get to build relationships with my residents and their families to give them the best person-centred care. I support and guide my staff to be the best they can be and I would not be where I am today without my incredible team.
We are a `home from home` and a family that I am proud of.
Nestled in the heart of Kent's picturesque coastal town of Westgate-on-Sea lies St. Michael's Care, a tranquil place just a stone's throw away from the bustling Margate. Our nursing home provides an all-inclusive care package, for planning and peace of mind.
We are surrounded by well-tended gardens, and the building offers a homely retreat for those seeking private nursing care.
The home prides itself on its exceptional standard of care, with residents benefitting from the expertise of dedicated staff who uphold traditional values while embracing modern care and the use of technology to assist, where needed.
The spacious and comfortable single occupancy rooms, most with en-suite facilities, provide a cosy home away from home, and when it comes to food, the homemade, nutritionally balanced meals are tailored to residents' needs and tastes.
Aside from rest and recuperation, St. Michael's also has many communal and private spaces, perfect for catching up on the latest news or birdwatching in the garden. And for those seeking a more social experience, the home offers a network of friends, carers, and entertainers, providing a warm and inviting space to call home.

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
