Meet The Manager

Brondi Sheehy is Home Manager at Ponsandane.

Originally I started my career with Swallowcourt as a Healthcare Assistant and found my passion in caring for people.  This inspired me to undertake my nurse training and once I qualified I gained a wealth of experience in both hospital and community nursing.  In 2018 I returned to Swallowcourt working as the clinical lead for Ponsandane before progressing into the role of Clinical Deputy Manager.  In May 2022 I became the manager of Ponsandane and proud to lead an truly amazing and dedicated team in providing the highest standards of care and support to the individuals we are privileged to care for.

Brondi Sheehy

Ponsandane is renowned for its warm and welcoming atmosphere and wonderful community of residents, relatives, staff and friends. Set in beautifully landscaped grounds, the home has spacious lounges and comfortably decorated bedrooms, many with views over Mount’s Bay towards St Michael’s Mount.

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

We are working within the government guidelines to help protect our staff and clients.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Independent Assessments We have been independently assessed in our approach to infection control.
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
safe-tick Infection Screening We are using technology to screen for infections & monitor symptoms.
safe-tick Regulatory Assessment We have been assessed by the care regulator in our approach to infection control.
safe-tick Sterilisation & Disinfection Devices We are using sterilisation and/or disinfection devices within our care setting.
safe-tick Virus Testing We are testing for viral infection when symptoms present within our care setting.
Safe Visiting Space
safe-tick We have a safe visiting space

We are currently investing in additional Safe Visiting Facilities in our home, however where we are able to safely facilitate visits, the following considerations and precautions will be taken into account;

  • Alternatives to in-person visiting will be actively encouraged (use of telephones or video)
  • Visitors will be limited to a single constant visitor per resident
  • Wherever possible visits will be facilitated within areas external to the home, such as the garden or grounds with the required PPE and social distancing in place. Where this is not possible we will seek to provide a designated area within the home to facilitate visits, again with the requirement of PPE and the observance of social distancing
  • In-room visits will only be facilitated in relation to essential and compassionate (end of life) visits
  • Visitors will be required to book their visit in advance, ad-hoc visits will not be allowed
  • In line with track and trace guidance, the Care Home will maintain a record of all visitors to the premises, all visitors will be required to complete a screening questionnaire prior to visiting and should not attempt to visit if they are experiencing or have experienced Covid-19 related symptoms in the last 7 days or had contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
  • All visitors will agree to have no contact with any resident other than the resident they are visiting and will have minimal contact with care home staff. (Where conversation or discussion is required with staff this can be arranged over the phone following or prior to an in-person visit)
  • Visitors will be reminded and provided with facilities to wash their hands for 20 seconds or use hand sanitiser on entering or leaving the home
  • Visitors will be provided with PPE (Mask, apron and gloves) and be required to wear these for the duration of the visit
  • Visitors are asked to refrain from bringing with them gifts or items of food or drink

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
