What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

The welfare, safety and happiness of residents, team members and visitors is our number one priority.  In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, our additional stringent measures are constantly reviewed to ensure we continue to meet Government and Public Health guidance, for everyone’s safety and wellbeing, whilst continuing to offer a comfortable and happy place to live, work and visit.

Safe Visiting Space
safe-tick We have a safe visiting space

Regular contact with loved ones is essential for the mental and physical wellbeing of our residents and so we are pleased to be able to offer a range of visiting options for family members and friends.  Our visiting is in line with Government guidance, which is detailed in our Visitor Guidance and Protocols.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Description

With 76 bedrooms, offering residential and nursing care, we think carefully about the type of room each resident needs. We have 42 residential bedrooms, and for those requiring nursing care, we have 34 bedrooms, two lounges, a dining room and dedicated Wellbeing Suite.

We have the option for double rooms and all the residential rooms are en-suite. There are luxury bath and shower rooms in each area for residents to use with or without assistance.

All our rooms have been refurbished to the highest specifications with new furniture, soft furnishings and fittings. We have designed the rooms with your comfort in mind. Your bedroom furniture consists of: an appropriate bed suitable to your needs, wardrobe, bedside table with lockable drawer, armchair and other furniture suitable to the size of the room. Your bed linen and towels are provided by the home.

We understand that moving into The Granby will be a considerable transition, but one we try to make feel as easy as possible. Your room is your own personal space, which is why we encourage you to personalise it if you like, by hanging your favourite pictures or bringing small pieces of furniture.

Activities Are So Important

A willingness to get involved and try new things is something we see time and again, once people are given the opportunity. We have dedicated Recreation and Activities Coordinators who oversee everything, but all our staff regularly brainstorm new ideas, too. And our residents vote on their suggestions at our monthly activity meetings, so we can be sure everyone’s looking forward to something, every day.

Activities vary each week: from gardening and film club to exercise classes and pet therapy. And everything’s flexible – if it’s sunny we go for a walk along The Stray or go outside, so everyone can appreciate the best of the day.

We’ve built excellent links with the community, allowing residents to continue their lives outside the home with ease. Having our own transportation means we can take residents out to run errands or have days out at Ripley Castle and Follifoot to feed the horses.

We often have local entertainers, musicians, magicians and dancers performing at the home too.
