Meet The Manager
Ramona Gherendi is General Manager at The White Lodge.
I joined Barchester in 2018 as a Clinical Lead, progressing to Deputy Manager and then General Manager of White Lodge in 2020. My focus at White Lodge is to ensure residents have the best possible life and experiences every single day, supported by the skilled and caring team here. I am committed to person centred care for all our residents and my door is always open to them and their families.
I have a real passion for nursing beginning my nursing career in 2004 in Romania as a cardiac nurse. I moved to the UK with my family in 2011 and I have worked in adult general nursing in the UK since then.
For anyone considering care for themselves or for a loved one our doors are open for you to visit and meet the team.
White Lodge Care home in Swindon provides 24-hour residential and nursing care as well as personalised dementia care in one of Barchester’s dedicated Memory Lane Communities. Our team of highly skilled and attentive staff focus on the individual needs of residents, with a tailored care plan for each person. Set in the heart of rural Wiltshire with views across landscaped grounds and its own fishing lake, the home was awarded the ‘Best Revival Project’ in the Healthcare Design Awards.
The Memory Lane Community specialises in innovative dementia care, enabling every resident to thrive in an environment designed to stimulate and enrich their lives, whilst giving families peace of mind and security. Our team are experienced in responding to the challenges that dementia presents, at whichever stage of the journey.
White Lodge offers a homely environment that is warm and welcoming, with beautiful en-suite bedrooms, ample living areas and spacious gardens. We also have a wide range of daily activities for residents to enjoy, including music therapy, exercise and musical entertainment, as well as trips out in our own minibus. Alongside this, we are proud to have achieved 5-star dining status and our in-house chefs have prepared a varied menu to meet all tastes and dietary requirements.

Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference. |
