Ana-Marie Barbu is Registered Manager at Valerie Manor.

I am a registered nurse, with 7 years experience in elderly care. I started as a carer and worked my way up to management. I recently obtained a level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Adult Care. I have been at Valerie Manor since October. I am proud to be part of such an amazing team and to be able to use my skills and knowledge to support our residents and their wellbeing.

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Our Building and Facilities

Residents are free to explore Valerie Manor and settle in their favourite part of the home, choosing to socialise with other residents, meet with visiting friends or family, or simply relax on their own in a quiet area. We’ve a variety of areas to choose from, each with their own character and atmosphere.

Our stunning light and airy conservatory forms the meeting point between our Nursing and Residential wings. With reflective roof glass, a stylish electric ceiling fan and classic white plantation shutters, it’s an elegant and comfortable area to socialise or just sit and enjoy views across the gardens and South Downs. Step out on a summer’s day and enjoy the water fountain or raised planters just a few steps away.

Our comfortable lounge, in the original part of the building, features a handsome oak beamed ceiling with large inglenook fireplace.  Attractively furnished, creating a warm, homely atmosphere of informal intimacy. There is also a small ornamental bar where residents have the opportunity to enjoy an occasional sherry if desired and also provides the focal point for our popular “Rabbit Hole Club”.
