Meet The Manager

George Tuthill is Managing Partner at Wardington House Nursing Home.

Wardington House is a family owned business established in 1965 by Dr. Tuthill. The Managing Partner is George Tuthill who lives on the Wardington House estate.

George Tuthill

Wardington House, built in 1785, lies on the edge of Wardington village, four miles from Banbury and junction 11 of the M40. The house has adapted well to the needs of its new guests and provides a home with considerable character. It has individual and shared bedrooms, some with en-suite bathrooms.

Wardington House has an outstanding reputation for caring for the elderly mentally infirm, particularly those suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Over the years we have learnt how to meet the special needs of this group of people. We use no routine tranquillising or sedative drugs.

We offer a relaxed, stress free environment, so that residents can retain their freedom of choice and individuality. They are invited to get up and go to bed at times of their own choosing and to eat between meals if their wish. The way of life at Wardington House and the absence of tranquillising drugs have produced surprising improvements to the health, happiness and well being of many who have come here.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

The home has high numbers of well trained staff. It is a family run business and has invested in a sprinkler system to protect residents and staff in the event of a fire.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Air Filtration & Purification We are using air filtration and/or air purification devices within our care setting.
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Activities Are So Important

Three sitting rooms on the ground floor enable individuals to mix with those whose company they prefer. There is a television in one area, though this holds little interest for most of our residents, who prefer to be active. Our carers encourage card games, indoor ball games, music, singing, or reading. We have a minibus, which takes groups out for a drive through the country lanes, sometimes stopping to feed ducks on a nearby pond, sometimes stopping to watch the horses cantering in the fields.

Every summer we hold a Garden Party with a brass band, Morris dancers and other entertainment. Residents, relatives and friends of the home all enjoy the day. The home has strong connections with the local community. Some residents go to the annual village Senior Citizen party and garden fetes.

The local vicar and priest holds services in the home. Christmas at Wardington is a very special time, with bell-ringers, carol singers and a Christmas party.
