Meet The Manager

Jess Brolan is General Manager at West Abbey.

Following the completion of my nursing degree, I went on to work in various health and social care roles.

Most recently managing care services for the residential and nursing sector around Dorset and Somerset area, so bring a wealth of experience to my role.

My Team and I look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful home and wonderful community of residents.

Jess Brolan

Here at West Abbey, we provide high quality 24-hour nursing and residential care for older people, including those with dementia in our innovative Memory Lane Community. Alongside this, we also have a facility for younger people who are living with physical disabilities. All of our luxurious rooms are wheelchair accessible and have en-suite facilities. Alongside this, residents have access to our onsite hairdresser, physiotherapy treatment and a variety of entertainment and activities organised by our activities team, such as gardening, baking and regular outings.

West Abbey partnered with Life Circles in 2012, which was was a two-year collaborative project aimed at supporting the life-long creativity of older people living in care settings, through innovative, imaginative and inspiring community dance practice

We are always happy to discuss how we can meet your care needs, so why not give us a call and arrange a visit to experience West Abbey for yourself?

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

We are working within the government guidelines to help protect our staff and clients.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
safe-tick Virus Testing We are testing for viral infection when symptoms present within our care setting.
Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Activities Are So Important

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest, as well as visits from the Donkey sanctuary, musicians and entertainers. We also host evenings such as our Cheese & Wine evenings and BBQ's in the summer, that we encourage relatives to come to.

Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained. We encourage our residents to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can to ensure that life at West Abbey is fun and active for all.
