Valentine Ogundipe

Woodbury Manor was built in 1853 and was set in 13 acres of grounds on the south side of Clay Hill. In 1968 it became an “educational recovery unit” called Clay Hill House. Since 2010 Woodbury Manor has been restored to its Victorian appearance and now provides residential care for elderly gentlefolk. Clay Hill is situated on the border of Hertfordshire and Enfield, easily accessible by the M25 and A10.

Over time and with various ownerships, Woodbury Manor was converted to a hospital, when it became known as Clay Hill House, and then to a home for the elderly. Woodbury Manor has three specific wings, “Woodbury”, “Cedars” and “Maple”. The Cedars wing is designed specifically for those that require dementia care.

There are no ‘visiting hours’ as Residents’ guests and families are welcomed at any time.

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

Woodbury Manor hold regular training sessions on health and safety issues such as infection control and hygiene, and conduct monthly health, safety and infection control audits, with maintenance checks carried out each week. Staff are all trained to identify and report any issues that they see as they go about their work, and the manager and deputy do daily walkarounds to check that the home is safe and clean.

Residents are encouraged to maintain hand hygiene themselves, or staff are available to help and provide antibacterial wipes as needed. Posters and signs are displayed throughout the home, providing details about first aid, hygiene, fire safety protocols, and other health and safety measures.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Independent Assessments We have been independently assessed in our approach to infection control.
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
