Our Building and Facilities |
---|
Woodstock nursing home was established in 1986. The home is currently under the care and management of Coatewater care who took over in 2014. The ethos of Woodstock is that it is the resident’s home and as such we try to keep it as homely as possible. Residents are able to explore around the home as much as they wish, the home is decorated in an unassuming way and in keeping with the style of the building. The home is warm and friendly and has a family orientated atmosphere. We passionately welcome family and friends into the home to visit their loved ones and to join in with activities and events. The home boasts a beautiful country garden, which is easily accessible for residents to enjoy as they wish. Residents are supported and encouraged to go outside as much as they want especially in the nice weather. We have parties and activities in the garden and it’s a lovely calm and quite place to spend time with loved ones and friends, and watch all the nature we have such as birds and a lovely grey squirrel that lives in the tree. Each corridor in the home is named after a flower, which helps residents to easily find the floor they are on. Resident’s bedroom doors are personalised to them with a picture, their name and room number. |

Activities Are So Important |
---|
A physically active lifestyle can significantly improve people’s quality of life at all stages of dementia. Our Activity Coordinators organise age-appropriate pastimes and entertainment that residents enjoy and want to participate in. Some people enjoy sitting peacefully with their favourite carer, others prefer to be more active. And there’s certainly plenty of choice at Woodstock: live music sessions, hair & beauty treatment, baking classes, Christmas and birthday parties, theatre trips, exercise sessions and day trips to the seaside. The home has a full and varied activities programme each week. There is a display board in the home with all the events and activities that are going on. Each month we run a friendly competition between one of the other homes in the company and get all the residents, staff, families and visitors involved. Our team is called the Woodstock Warriors we have bright yellow T-shirts to wear and banners and we are fiercely competitive. The home hosts local entertainers each month who come and perform for us, we all love a good sing-a-long, some exercise and a dance. The activity co-ordinator plans the weekly activities with each resident in mind to allow for a full and varied programme which helps to engage, stimulate and encourage social interaction and fun. We also encourage and promote unplanned activities, such as dusting, folding laundry, laying the tables and gardening. These are paramount for our residents as these are things that they would normally do at home, it helps to orientate and settle within the home environment while promoting their independence |
