Ruth Halls is Home Manager at Ashlyn Care Home.
I started working at Ashlyn Care Home on 1st March 2021. I have been a qualified Nurse for 32 yearsI love seeing people thrive in our care. It’s especially rewarding to witness people regaining their independence and hearing positive comments from themselves and their families. My team at Ashlyn Care Home are an incredible bunch, very hard working and, always put the people we care for first. I’m incredibly honoured to call these people my colleagues. Caring for people has always been my passion, but when I started, I wasn’t sure where it would take me. It’s certainly been a journey, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Ashlyn is a 60-bed, purpose-built Care Home, with a warm and friendly atmosphere, set in the heart of Harlow. Recently modernised, Ashlyn provides residential care for older people and people with dementia and high dependency needs.
It is only natural for all of us to want the very best for those we love as they get older. Life at home can become increasingly more challenging and difficult to manage as the years pass, particularly if someone is trying to cope with Dementia. The decision to look at residential care can be extremely hard to make and, for many, a deeply emotional one. However, should you decide this is the right choice to make for your relative or friend, we will be there to help you every step of the way.
The friendly faces, homely facilities and comfortable, modern accommodation at Ashlyn Care Centre will make the transition much easier. We provide residential, respite and palliative care for older people, including those with Dementia. Our professional and experienced Care Staff are committed to ensuring that the people who use our services live as independently as possible and continue to live life to the full. Here at Ashlyn Care Centre, we provide a personal service which respects and values individuals.

Life can be confusing at the best of times, yet even more so when it involves moving away from home where special memories have been formed. For this reason, we encourage everyone to personalise and decorate their bedrooms with small items of furniture and treasured objects, to provide comfort and familiarity in their new surroundings. |

Activities Are So Important |
---|
At Ashlyn, we have our own Activities Coordinator who takes the time to discuss hobbies and interests with residents and relatives. She devises individual activity programmes as well as group activities to suit individual needs. A full programme of events is displayed clearly in each unit. Our local community plays a vital key role with visits from various churches, and schools. Representatives of different denominations visit to meet everyone’s religious and spiritual needs. We like to celebrate special occasions at Ashlyn, for example, our Residents’ Birthdays, Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Valentines day and Mothers Day. |
