Sarah Price is Manager at Astley Hall Nursing Home.
Starting in my teenage years, I worked at a local residential home, within cleaning, cooking and caring roles. Although when I was at college, studying for an interior design qualification, I realised that my future was to be the area I already worked in, the Health and Social Care sector. Being able to make a difference to someone’s life and to be part of making it the best it could be for them, is an amazing feeling.
After working for the NHS and Nursing Homes for many years holding various positions in nursing, junior and senior roles, I then set up my own Home Care company providing nursing and personal care to individuals living in their own homes. I also held positions over the years within the DHSC for social care nursing and sat on the Board of Directors for an adult social care trade association for the last 8 yrs, 3 of these years as the Chair. I’m a great believer that even the little things make a big difference to someone.
Astley Hall provides tranquil and relaxing accommodation in a country manor house set in beautiful grounds.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe | ||
---|---|---|
Astley Hall has an integrated nursecall system with digital handsets. We invest very heavily in training, with a 3 day induction, followed by assigning a peer mentor and working super-numerary on shift until signed off as safe. It is a noted assurance from new staff how comprehensive our training is, provided by an in-house training team (headed by qualified nurse). Embedded in our culture is a willingness to receive feedback, so that we can improve. We have recently invested £100k into brand new fire alarm system, and further £120k into state-of-art boiler. However, we also believe in living life, which does involve entering into considered risk to make life meaningful. |
Infection Control Initiatives in place | ||

Independent Assessments | We have been independently assessed in our approach to infection control. | |
Infection Control Training | Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections. |
Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications |
---|
Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
