Rebecca Pinnock is General Manager at Kenwyn.
Hello. My name is Becky and I am delighted to be in post as General Manager here at Kenwyn. Welcome to our website!
I have worked as Clinical Lead at Kenwyn for 6 months and during that time have had the benefit of getting to know the residents and staff. I have been a Care Home Manager since 2014 and I qualified as a nurse in 2006. I aspired to work for Barchester after admiring the values, care and overall premium brand. I am thrilled to be part of the company and team.
Kenwyn is a purpose built care home in Truro with beautiful gardens, set within a quiet area of this bustling market city in Cornwall. We pride ourselves on providing excellent nursing and residential care for elderly people, people living with disabilities and, for those living with dementia, and a homely environment within our Memory Lane Community. Our aim is to ensure that all residents are happy and fulfilled throughout their stay at our nursing home, and that the welfare of each resident is at the forefront of what we do each day.
The home's specialist Memory Lane Community utilises a careful blend of skills and techniques developed by leading experts in the field of dementia care, incorporating person-centred design in its use of colour and cues to help individuals navigate through the home, whilst thoughtful interior design features, such us adapted crockery and tableware assists with reminiscence. Communities are broken up into separate units with a family feel so people can feel safe and comfortable. Care is focused on independence, dignity and choice, with a person-centred approach. Staffing levels reflect the needs of residents, and people living with dementia are offered a range of activities to help preserve life skills, support interactions and retain a sense of purpose and selfhood.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe | ||
---|---|---|
We are delighted that the majority of our residents, patients and staff have now been vaccinated. And we'll do everything we can to ensure that all new residents, patients and staff are vaccinated, where medically able to to, or are willing o be vaccinated before moving in or working in our homes and hospitals. We also ensure that any new residents and patients coming into our homes and hospitals , whether from the local hospital or the community have been tested in advance and are negative for COVID-19. We continue to have a robust supply chain of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) in place, and our staff are using this in accordance with the Government guidance. All of our staff, irrespective of their role will be wearing protective face masks at all times to ensure the safety of our residents and team. We continue to implement our advanced cleaning practices, and have clear standards in the case of managing any confirmed or suspected cases. All staff practise good hand and respiratory hygiene to prevent the spread of germs, and surfaces that are often touched are cleaned and disinfected frequently. We're proud to be the only care provider to win the RoSPA Health and Safety Award in both 2019 and 2020. |

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications |
---|
Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant. Activities Are So Important |
---|
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire. |
