Meet The Manager
Simona Cioinac is General Manager at Austen House.
Hello. My name is Simona and I am the General Manager here at Austen House. I look forward to welcoming you to our home.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I love to see prospective residents, families and friends, new members of staff and the local community taking an interest in our community.
My role is to ensure that we deliver what we say we do. I am responsible for overall service delivery to our residents and community, inspiring and leading the team and ensuring high standards of governance and compliance are achieved.
Austen House is a purpose built residential care home in Reading, set in a semi-rural location and within easy reach of Wokingham and London. Our staff at Austen House are dedicated to meeting residents’ personal needs and our nurses are on duty 24-hours a day to provide top quality elderly care.
Staff on Austen House’s specialised Memory Lane Community(for people living with dementia) have been awarded certificates by the Alzheimer's Society for passing a course that helped with enhancing their understanding of dementia. It involves improved insight into dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, and learning that feelings matter most.
Austen House welcomes enquiries and is pleased to show people – whether they're looking for advice or support – around if they would like to drop in to investigate for themselves.

Here at Austen House, we like to get to know those we support, and from the day of moving in, our activities team will spend time on an individual basis learning about interests, likes and dislikes, life history and favourite hobbies. We provide a wide range of activities, from one-to-one time, manicures and board games, through to live entertainment, prize bingo and our ever-popular cheese & wine events. Our activities team will also tailor individual activities to ensure residents can have as much or as little involvement as they choose. In the summer months, greater focus is given to outdoor activities, such as barbecues and garden parties. In conjunction with our Chef, themed events are planned throughout the year, bringing activities and food together. In their yellow polo shirt, our activities team are easily identifiable and embrace ideas and suggestions from residents and their relatives to ensure that the activities provided keep those we support engaged, stimulated and entertained. |
