We are confident that our care homes are now some of the very safest places to live and work.

All of our staff have been trained in additional and heightened cleansing protocols and hygiene regimes, and these are being supported by a leading sanitisation system as part of our comprehensive infection controls. Testing regimes will continue for staff, residents and visitors.

We have re-aligned the resident in-house services to meet social distance guidance from the Government, for areas such as lounges and dining rooms, and for visiting entertainers and hair dressers; we are working hard to restore these services within the ‘new normal’ circumstances as soon as we can, when lockdown rules allow.

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

There are several lounges where activities take place at Birchmere Mews and the surrounding gardens offer spots for enjoying the summer sun, relaxing with a book or cup of tea or just watching the world go by.

But what sets our residential homes apart is what we build on the inside of the home, its atmosphere, the companionship of staff and residents and homely support that are part parcel of daily life – and Birchmere Mews is no different. Our communities are vibrant places where each and every one of our residents finds their place and above all contributes to something that is quite hard to pin down but which is palpable when you visit.

Birchmere Mews in Solihull offers residential and dementia care and has available bedrooms with en-suite wet rooms and three quarter sized beds. Many of our rooms have views of Copt Hall golf course that adjoins our Knowle site just off the A4141 Warwick Road.

We also have bedrooms at Birchmere Mews that are designed for couples and include private lounge areas. Other rooms have kitchenettes, with a small fridge and sink, just in case you fancy a nice cup of tea with your daily paper.

Our Wellbeing team at Birchmere Mews Care Home are a busy bunch. Busy keeping all our residents happy and occupied, whether it is organising excursions in our minibus, taking a short walk in Copt Hall, running crafting sessions in our activity room or inviting in local community groups, schools or entertainers.

When the weather is fine, we all like to venture out onto our sun terrace, drink tea and play board games, cards and such activities. We also hold regular social events where guests are welcome to join us and where themed food is prepared by our own chef. Chef also ensures that no activities take part without a good smattering of cakes and biscuits and there are sessions of chair based exercises to ensure that we don’t put on too much weight!

Birchmere Mews is well connected to the local community and we ensure that we maintain good relations with all kinds of groups and clubs. We see ourselves as playing a vital role in the local Solihull community and can be regularly seen out and about in our minibus right across the Solihull district.
