We are confident that our care homes are now some of the very safest places to live and work.

All of our staff have been trained in additional and heightened cleansing protocols and hygiene regimes, and these are being supported by a leading sanitisation system as part of our comprehensive infection controls. Testing regimes will continue for staff, residents and visitors.

We have re-aligned the resident in-house services to meet social distance guidance from the Government, for areas such as lounges and dining rooms, and for visiting entertainers and hair dressers; we are working hard to restore these services within the ‘new normal’ circumstances as soon as we can, when lockdown rules allow.

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Our diversity is our strength, and our community is both strong and nourishing and the residents thrive on a high calibre of care and companionship. Birchwood Grange has well-grounded community links, and groups of all kinds come to visit us. Local schools, faith groups, voluntary organisations are all regularly coming through our doors. We see ourselves as an important part of our local Harrow and Brent communities and our inclusive approach ensures that family members and friends are always kept informed and join in with us.

No one will forget the experience when approaching the home and seeing the amazing decorative and ornamental flowers and animals, all of which are the inspiration of Mark Bird, our energetic and popular Home Manager. He brings that ‘je ne sais quoi’ to Birchwood Grange with his inspired leadership and enthusiasm and it’s worth a visit just to meet up with him and hear about the home and the outstanding residential care and companionship he and his team provide.

Taking inspiration from our dynamic manager, our Well-being and Activity Coordinators see to it that there is never a dull moment in our nursing home and actively encourage everyone to be as in involved with life as they can be.

Whatever the choice (and it’s a hard one) you can rest assured that the residents’ improved well-being is the yardstick by which we judge our success. Our programme of events is open to all relatives,and in fact our residents’ and relatives’ committee plays an active part in guiding the development of home life. And there is plenty going on outside the home too. Residents go up to London, to the local cafés and even make friends with the local firemen at the friendly neighbourhood fire station.
