Meet The Manager

Nicola Jones is Care Home Manager at Bishopsmead Lodge.

A qualified nurse, Nicola began her career working in a hospital. She went on to do some agency work where she did a shift in a care home and fell in love with it. She has since had experience as a senior nurse, a clinical leader, a deputy manager and a Home Manager.
Nicola has been at Bishopsmead Lodge for over 9 years, and in this time has received a ‘Good’ CQC rating for the first time in the homes history. A proud family woman, in her spare time Nicola loves to host cricket teas in cricket season as well as taking any opportunity to make a lovely buffet.

Words of encouragement from Nicola for someone looking for the right care home would be: “Turn up unexpected and see it for what it is.”

You’ll find Bishopsmead Lodge Care Home situated in a pleasant residential area overlooking Kings Head Lane Park and the local bowling club. We are a short drive from Bristol and around the corner from the bus stop, making us easily accessible for visitors to pop-in for a chat.

Our care team provides nursing care for residents living with complex medical needs. We also offer respite care to give family or friends a well-earned break and intermediate care as an alternative to a hospital stay.

Our home runs a busy activities programme to make sure residents get the most out of every day, including arts and crafts, cooking, music, visiting entertainers and shared activities with the local community including the nearby bowling club.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Activities Are So Important

Another way we can help our residents to feel at home is for them to do familiar things. So our dedicated Activities Leaders gently encourage residents to carry on doing things they enjoy. If someone had a hobby or pastime they did before they arrived, we’ll encourage them to continue it with us. Or perhaps they may like to learn something new.

The important thing is that we treat every resident as an individual. If they enjoy sharing time with others, either in our home or on an organised trip out, they’re most welcome. Or, if they prefer quiet time alone, we’ll respect that too.

Bishopsmead runs a busy activities programme to make sure residents get the most out of every day, including arts and crafts, cooking, music, visiting entertainers and shared activities with the local community including the nearby bowling club.
