Penelope Tyau is Registered Manager at Blackwater Mill Residential Home.
Penny made the change to Health and Social care from Corporate Finance to try and make a difference in whatever way she could. She found her niche in dementia care proving that she can teach and ensure that dementia care is given in a person-centred and dignified way. It is Penny's ultimate goal to build on this foundation and create a loving and secure environment for the residents of the home.
When she is not working Penny enjoys time with her family, archery, travelling, hiking and live music.
Blackwater Mill is set in stunning landscaped gardens next to a vast mill pond fed by the river Medina, providing a serene and idyllic environment in which to retire.
The residents enjoy the interesting wildlife including ducks, swans, fish, red squirrels and chickens. The building dates back to 1790, when it was a working grain mill, now providing charm and character to the home.

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
