Meet The Manager

Rachel Scurr is Home Manager at Millers Grange.

I’ve worked in the care sector all my career, initially providing hands on care, and later in management roles. I even worked with a previous Prime Minister to improve dementia care standards. While I’m not a political person, it was amazing to provide expertise at that level.

As well as care expertise, this role demands great teamwork, a listening ear, empathy and the ability to act quickly. This is the residents’ home, so if they, or their family, give us feedback, it’s vital that we’re quick to respond. The same applies to the team. A lot of my role is to support them to develop their strengths and do their best work so they can enhance residents’ lives.

Rachel Scurr

Millers Grange care home in Witney offers a variety of care services for older people, including residential, dementia care and short-term respite care.

Millers Grange is a home from home, where your loved one's individually styled, en-suite bedroom is their own personal space. The luxury care home also has its own café, cinema room and hair and beauty salon, so residents can continue to enjoy a fantastic lifestyle. Outside, raised flowerbeds, a bar area, a circular pathway and a range of seating areas provide opportunities for fresh air and purposeful activity.

The dedicated team learn everything they can about your loved one to create care plans, lifestyle plans and even menus that are personalised to their preferences and needs.

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.

safe-tick Sterilisation & Disinfection Devices We are using sterilisation and/or disinfection devices within our care setting.
safe-tick Virus Testing We are testing for viral infection when symptoms present within our care setting.
Safe Visiting Space
safe-tick We have a safe visiting space

All Care UK homes now have purpose-built internal or external visiting suites available which enable visits to take place from behind a sealed glass panel, using a sound system to assist with communication. Where Government guidance and local health teams allow, these suites make it possible to continue visiting even when we have a case of Covid-19 in the home.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Wireless Internet access (WiFi)

Yes, our care home has WiFi in all our resident’s rooms.

Mobile Phone Network Coverage (mobile “signal”)

Activities Are So Important

Here in our Witney care home, we believe that life is for living – to the full. So when your loved one joins us at Millers Grange we work hard to find out all about their life history, interests and wishes, then we support them to live life in the way they wish.

Whether your loved one prefers one-to-one or small group activities, helping around the home or being in their own company, we will ensure that they enjoy a meaningful and fulfilling lifestyle.

Our Lifestyle team organises a weekly programme of activities, events, outings and entertainment, from live music to exercise sessions, film afternoons (complete with freshly popped corn), pamper sessions, knitting, reminiscence sessions, art classes and baking.

Nothing beats a good chat, and at 3pm each day colleagues ‘down tools’ to get together with residents for tea, cake and a catch up. ‘Boys’ lunches’ and ‘Ladies’ afternoon teas’ are also regular diary dates, all hosted by our senior managers.
