Nancy Walford is General Manager at Eastbourne Gardens Care Home.
When I joined the home in 2016 initially working as a Nurse it was love at first sight! When I first walked in it felt like “coming home” a unique and special place who’s ethos and unique approach to care shone out and I instantly felt part of something special.
Moving on to become Dementia Care Manager I led an amazing team, and together we reached dizzy heights winning a National Care award for Resident Engagement in 2017 and becoming finalists in the National Dementia Awards for the Best Dementia Team!
After 3 years as Deputy Manager, I have taken on the role of General Manager of Eastbourne Gardens. I strive every day to ensure we are and will always be a special place and a happy home. Our Residents are truly inspirational and make everyday a joy. I am proud to be part of a passionate team who endeavour to lead the way as a centre of excellence in care. At Eastbourne Gardens the sun is always shining.
Assisted Living, Respite and Dementia Care in Eastbourne
Eastbourne Gardens Care Home is renowned in the local community for the care it provides. We’re located in a tranquil area on the outskirts of the town and just a 10-minute drive from the stunning seafront. The home features 93 private apartments – ranging from one-bed rooms to companion suites, perfect for those looking to share their care journey with a loved one, be it a partner, sibling, or friend.
The facilities at our Eastbourne care home are second to none. Our rooms are equipped with all facilities our residents need to feel safe and comfortable, including en-suite wet rooms and airy living spaces, furnished to a high standard. There’s plenty for residents to love away from the privacy of their own rooms too – with a salon, expansive garden space, a lively on-site pub and much more.
We support our residents with a wide range of care options, ranging from assisted living support with basic day-to-day activities, to more intense round-the-clock nursing care for those affected by long-term conditions. We also specialise in dementia care, providing a peaceful environment where our residents can feel safe and secure while receiving care that’s tailored to their needs.
With our innovative ReConnect strategy, we get to know our residents living with dementia of all types and all the unique elements that make them who they are. It’s this that allows us to create a care plan that’s truly focused on the individual. It enables us to better support families too.

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
