Sue Wilson is Care Manager at The Old Vicarage.
Sue, our Care Manager, has a wealth of experience within the care sector. Originally, she trained as a Legal Secretary but decided that a career within care was most suited to her personality.
Over the years Sue has worked in many different care settings including a learning disability care home, as a Domiciliary Care Manager for a spinal care unit, a Residential Unit Manager, a Senior Domiciliary Care Coordinator, and overseeing the development of a new care home.
The Old Vicarage is a 19 room residential and dementia care home near Grange Over Sands, Cumbria. It is managed by Kamal Siddiqi who represents a second generation of the family to run it. Both Kamal's his grandmother and mother were residents at the care home.
Kamal has a simple philosophy of care, "If it isn't good enough for my relatives, it isn't good enough for anyone else's relatives."
The Old Vicarage operates a person-centred care model which means that care is based about supporting the residents; they get up when they like, eat what they want to and take part in activity programmes designed around their interests and hobbies.
Prior to someone coming to the home, Kamal's team go out and make a care assessment, gather as much information from them, their relatives and any necessary healthcare professionals and they learn as much as possible about their quality of life to ensure they can meet all their physical and emotional needs.
