Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

All staff complete annual infection Prevention and control training. This is part of our Mandatory training. At Buckingham we have an Infection control champion, and he has completed additional training regarding PPE, hand washing, and preventing spread of infection. We also complete a hand washing Competency which includes handwashing techniques. PPE s readily available throughout the home.

Laminated signage is also visible around the home to provide correct handwashing techniques Infection control is also discussed in 1-1 supervisions including current Covid 19 Guidance. We also discuss in staff meetings, Health, and safety meetings. We follow current COVID 19 Guidance for care homes When residents are showing signs of Covid infection they remain in their bedroom and staff barrier nurse until isolation period is completed. All infections within the home or of concern within the community are discussed in our daily meetings. This information is shared with relevant departments to reduce the risk of transmission and to maintain good practice.

A fogging machine was purchased to enhance effective and robust cleaning. Our dedicated housekeeping team have a robust daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning Schedules.

We complete monthly infection control Audits. If required, we liaise with the infection control team if we require advise or further guidance. We actively share any IPC updates. Infection control policies are also available to staff. The person in charge carries out daily walk round and discusses any concerns with staff at the daily meeting to ensure that they are actioned. To support and monitor the night staff out of hours visits are carried out to ensure that they are following IPC guidance

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Independent Assessments We have been independently assessed in our approach to infection control.
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
