Meet The Manager

Emma Hopkins is Registered Manager at Oakwood House Care Home.

With 10-year experience of successfully managing a local care home, Emma brings a new approach to management at Oakwood House. With a focus on utilising innovative technology and empowering staff to deliver, the aim is to create a more streamlined home environment. This approach will mean that Emma is freed from daily tasks so that the focus can be put on improving the quality of care that we provide. Emma’s experience in collaborating with the local multi-disciplinary teams to ensure residents receive the best personal centred care, will be of great benefit to Oakwood House.

A caring and compassionate, organized, and supportive person Emma is a hands-on manager who creates a homely atmosphere for both staff and residents alike. Her door is always open for discussion and feedback.

Step into Oakwood House, a tranquil, inviting care home nestled in the town of Colney, just four miles from the hustle and bustle of Norwich city centre.  Here, you will find expert, person-centred care in a warm and friendly atmosphere, led by a team of experienced, professional and compassionate nurses and carers. We are located close to Bowthorpe Southern Park, Earlham Park and the historic Norman church, Oakwood House is also close to Spire Norwich Hospital. 

As part of a small, tight-knit care group, Oakwood House offers a unique home-away-from-home experience, providing residents with a range of enjoyable and stimulating activities, good community links and fulfilling lifestyle choices, close to the heart of Norwich.

In 2022, Oakwood House won the ‘Nursing in Social Care Award’ at the Norfolk Care Awards which reflects our continuing investment in the team here, to deliver the very best care the county has to offer.

Together with our sister home, we are passionate about the importance of family, connection and human stories.  We believe that by encouraging people to engage in every day life as they always have promotes harmony within the home and creates a genuine family atmosphere.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

Here at Oakwood House Care, the safety, wellbeing and above all else – the health of our residents and staff are our number one priority. With this in mind, we have set out a detailed and comprehensive plan to “living with COVID-19”.


We are welcoming new residents into our care home and our team are on hand to discuss any concerns or specific questions you have, to help you make an informed decision when finding care for yourself or a loved one.

All our staff are trained in infection control and the signs to spot when identifying COVID-19. We have a clear process should a resident or member of staff show any symptoms.

If a resident is showing symptoms, we will follow medical advice and ensure the resident self-isolates within their own room. Only after meeting the current Government Guidance on self-isolation and testing, will we welcome them back to the main home. The resident will be cared for using stringent infection control practices and with the correct and appropriate level of PPE until we are confident that they are not contagious.

Activities Are So Important

Activities are an important part of life here at Oakwood House. Our residents enjoy a rich lifestyle of creative events held weekly, providing an opportunity to socialise with new friends. We tailor our activities to both residential and nursing residents, so there is always something to suit individual capabilities.

As well as our daily activities we have regular visits from entertainers, and we expect to host a bi-monthly family party which is always a popular day with our residents if possible.
