Meet The Manager

Maria Angehelide is Home Manager at Cliftonville Care Home.

Our residential care home in Northampton welcomes you to come and meet our friendly home manager and the wider team for a cup of tea and to learn more about the excellent facilities we offer. At our home, we warmly welcome couples or companions who want to continue their care journey together. Come and chat to us in one of our safe visiting rooms or garden area, or call us and we’ll be happy to talk you through the various facilities in the home and discuss your specific care needs.

Our Proud Cliftonville Care Home

Our Northampton care home, Cliftonville, is renowned for its friendly and vibrant community of care for the elderly. Our state of the art, purpose-designed building offers the perfect environment for our residents, where they can expect the best quality residential, dementia, nursing and respite care in Northamptonshire. Avery Healthcare is itself a long-established Northampton care company, with a number of residential care homes across the town and the rest of Northamptonshire.

We choose our friendly, approachable staff for their warmth and empathy as well as for their professional excellence, so friends and families can rest assured that their loved one is being well cared for at Cliftonville Care Home, or in any of our Avery run care homes in Northamptonshire for that matter. The atmosphere is both relaxing and sociable, with plenty of opportunities to get together with other residents, or go somewhere quiet if preferred. Our sister home is located parallel to Cliftonville Care Home, and we often share trips and events together as well as the lovely garden. Our cinema room is well used for afternoon matinées, and there are plenty of opportunities to reminisce, especially for our dementia residents. There is also a fully equipped beauty salon and therapy room for those who like a bit of pampering – and who doesn’t?

Our stylish bedrooms are generously sized, and all come with walk-in showers. The housekeepers look after the rooms beautifully and carefully dust photos and keepsakes that residents like to put on display to ensure they feel at home. We make great use of mementoes and memories in our approach to dementia care and like to involve friends and relations as much as possible. Our doors are always open!

To see what we get up to you might want to view our dedicated Facebook page that is kept updated with all the activities and goings-on in our care home in Northampton, or alternatively feel free to call our friendly team. A show around of our residential care home in Northampton can be easily arranged through our front of house team.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

Avery Healthcare has always made the health and safety of our residents and staff a priority, and the Covid-19 pandemic has required us to raise our exacting standards to even higher levels. That is why we are taking the innovative step to introduce a cleaning system into our care homes that is already proven to kill 99.9% of viruses, including MRSA, e-Coli, norovirus and the SARS virus (which is similar to Cov-2, which causes Covid-19).

Avery is now leading in the care sector with the testing of an established cleaning system that refreshes and sanitises a bedroom in less than an hour, with a larger capacity variant addressing communal areas. Keeping both areas clean in this way will be an effective method in how Avery care homes manage their environments, to keep them as virus and bacteria-free as possible.

All Avery homes are now equipped with Topaz Machines ready for when we can allow visiting into the homes. The system hosts two units, one larger which dispenses hand sanitiser to visitors upon arrival and exit; it also provides an important messaging display screen to advise visitors of the latest news, and the other, a smaller screen, which operates as a thermal checker so that we can support temperature checks of those entering the building. Yet another fantastic piece of technology that provides relatives with safer, more efficient visits with their loved ones.

As we’ve learned during this pandemic, we are all in this together. We want our residents, staff, and their respective families to know that when they are in an Avery care home, that it is one of the safest and cleanest places to be. We also want relatives to be confident that their loved ones are being cared for in the best possible way, and for anyone in the position of placing a loved one in to care, to have the peace of mind that an Avery home will be a clean and safe haven.

Activities Are So Important

No, we’re not talking about cocktails, it’s what some of our residents call the Activity Coordinators, as they are quite distinctive in their pink uniform. These ladies initiate, foster and encourage the home’s lively leisure schedule. You would expect knitting and gardening to be on the list, as they are, but here are a few things you might not have anticipated:

  • Weekly carpet bowls tournament –nothing like a bit of friendly competition!
  • Choir practice
  • Nintendo, Wii and Xbox – What! Old people!
  • Bird watching at the local reservoir
  • Country and Western nights
  • Tap dancing lessons – I don’t believe it!

We have a large screen in our cinema room and matinée afternoons are always popular. We often think back to the occasion when a resident could join in with her granddaughter’s wedding in Australia, by watching the whole event, together with a commentary, on the big screen TV. A magical moment, and shows how modern technology is put to best use. We are really keen to facilitate Skype links, but we also have real links, rather than virtual, with the local community and enjoy performances from local Northampton schools, entertainment groups and Age UK, who arrange classical recitals for us.
