McCarthy & Stone Management Services (MSMS) are responsible for looking after our Lifestyle Living and Retirement Living developments, the grounds and services that together make up your new home.
MSMS provide and maintain the emergency-call system, intruder alarm and door camera entry. They also take care of gardening and general upkeep of the outside of the development and all shared areas.
In our Retirement Living schemes, these services include a friendly House Manager, on hand during office hours in the week (which may vary), to take care of the day-to-day running of the development. They can also arrange social events, and our residents choose whether or not to get involved with these.

We all associate Kendal with the great outdoors, but while there are some truly wonderful Kendal walks for all abilities to enjoy– and an annual Kendal Walking Festival every May, there are plenty of more relaxing ways to enjoy the town from shopping to museums and history trails. Kendal is packed full of creative and artisanal eateries and micro-producers, making a delightful spot for foodies – and there are plenty of independent pubs and bars too, including the oldest inn in town, Ye Olde Fleece Inn, which often puts on events from pop up cinemas to comedy nights.

The market town of Kendal, the third largest town in Cumbria, is on the edge of the UNESCO World Heritage Lake District National Park. It is seen as the Southern gateway to this unique and beautiful landscape which has 16 lakes and over 200 fells.
Kendal is just 8 miles from the area’s largest and most famous lake, Lake Windermere (from Kendal train station the journey takes just 15 minutes) and is an ideal base to explore the whole region, which boasts the likes of Coniston Water, the inspiration for Arthur Ransome’s Swallows and Amazons; Esthwaite Water which inspired Beatrix Potter and Ullswater which is surrounded by the breath-taking Helvellyn mountain range.
