Meet The Manager

Carol Morrison is Manager at Ashley Court Nursing Home.

Ashley Court is run by Carol Morrison who was appointed Manager in January 2015. Having been the Deputy Manager since 2011, she is a well-established member of staff. She is aided by a terrific team of registered nurses, carers and support staff.

"I have been the Manager at Ashley Court since 2014. It is a privilege and a pleasure to look after our residents, and I have a terrific team helping our residents enjoy the later stage of life."

Ashley Court was purpose built and tastefully designed to fit in with the neighbouring buildings. It is very convenient for both Edinburgh city centre and the countryside.

Our facilities are excellent and our accommodation is warm, welcoming and very comfortable.

There is professional nursing care 24 hours a day and a busy events programme plus our own minibuses, to keep mind and body active.

"I am proud of the quality of life we enable our residents to enjoy."

Carol Morrison

Since 1985, Randolph Hill have had an enviable reputation for quality care provision. We are large enough to be able to provide great support, whilst small enough to avoid becoming overly bureaucratic and make decisions to fit every circumstance.

We have a low staff turnover with 6 high performing nursing homes offering long and short-term care to those with particular medical needs, especially frail elderly people.

Each Home’s philosophy is to provide competent, skilled and empathetic individual care. The Company is committed to future expansion, therefore each unit operates on a professional business basis, maintaining budgeted profit margins.

Our homes are well run, attaining positive grades with the Care Inspectorate. Randolph Hill are committed to quality and look for like-minded people to support us achieving our objectives.

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

Safety Measures
Hand hygiene is crucial in stopping the spread of the virus, and each of our homes has had a hand washing station installed at the entrance, for everyone to use as they arrive at the home.

In addition to our normal cleaning regimes, we have introduced extra cleaning schedules for our housekeeping teams, using products that are effective against coronavirus.

Visiting Opportunities

To keep residents, staff and visitors safe, we encourage all visitors to take a lateral flow test before each visit, and to strictly follow the guidance on hand washing and wearing a mask whilst in the home. Whilst mask wearing is no longer necessary when visiting the resident in their room, a face covering should be worn when walking through the home or visiting in communal areas.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
safe-tick Sterilisation & Disinfection Devices We are using sterilisation and/or disinfection devices within our care setting.
safe-tick Virus Testing We are testing for viral infection when symptoms present within our care setting.
Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) - Regulator’s Assessment
In response to the coronavirus pandemic, regulators have assessed the preparedness of care providers in relation to infection prevention and control. Details of the regulator’s latest findings can be found below.
Regulator: Care Inspectorate - Scotland

Safe Visiting Space
safe-tick We have a safe visiting space

When someone makes the decision to move into the home, safe visiting can begin on their first day.  Following discussion with the manager, a designated visitor (following our safe visiting protocol), can accompany the new resident, to help them to settle in to their new home.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Activities Are So Important

Here at Ashley Court, the happiness and wellbeing of our residents is of the utmost importance to us. That’s why we organise a carefully planned programme of activities, designed to promote independence and offer mental and physical stimulation.

We have lots on offer, with something for everyone so residents can choose the activities that interest them most, whether they’re pursuing a life-long interest or discovering a new hobby.

We pride ourselves on our programme of activities here at Ashley Court, with around 120 hours of scheduled activities on offer. We often get the residents together to watch a film on the big screen in the large dining room, and many of our green-fingered residents also like to get out in the garden when the sun is shining, not only to enjoy the grounds, but to keep the plants and flowers in order.

Recently, we’ve held music concerts in Ashley Court, as well as movement classes including Tai Chi and meditation, to keep both the body and mind active. One of our residents also took the opportunity learn a new language.
