Diana Okeme is General Manager at Bere Grove Care Home.
Hello, my name is Diana and I am the General Manager here at Bere Grove.
I’ve worked in Adult social care since 2006 whilst completing my Nursing degree and working part-time as a health care assistant, gaining invaluable skills and experience.
I first joined Barchester Healthcare in 2009 after qualifying as a registered nurse in a Specialist Dementia Care Home in Basingstoke. After a year, I was promoted to a Head of care role where I had the opportunity to deputise for the General manager in her absence and gained good leadership and management skills.
Together, with the amazing team here at Bere Grove, we will enable residents to be who they are as individuals, empowering them, promoting their independence whilst providing exceptional, compassionate and quality care with respect and dignity.
Bere Grove Care Home in Horndean, near Portsmouth, is a brand new purpose-built care home that is now open. The home is specifically designed to deliver first class residential and dementia care for older people in a homely, yet secure environment, as well as respite care. Our experienced and dedicated team are ready to deliver exceptional standards of compassionate care, which focuses on the individual needs of each resident.
Care is focused on independence, dignity and choice, with a person-centred approach. Staffing levels reflect the needs of residents, and people living with dementia will be offered a range of activities to help preserve life skills, support interactions and retain a sense of purpose and selfhood. Meals are freshly prepared on-site by trained chefs, who will offer a range of nutritious and tasty food, catering for special dietary requirements when needed.
For those living with dementia, there is a dedicated area called Memory Lane which will offer high quality care and thoughtful touches to help make life easier. For example features include a Magic Table – this is an interactive light projector that was originally developed in The Netherlands. It's a specialist piece of technology designed to support residents living with dementia. Additionally, our interior space, colours and bedrooms are all designed to help with difficulties associated with dementia.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications |

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
