Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Description

At Beulah Vista, we are all aware that there is no place like home. Being at home offers a sense of security and love, where you can truly be yourself and feel relaxed. We would like our residents to experience the same feelings at Beulah Vista to give a home from home experience.

We encourage all residents moving in to bring their own pictures, ornaments, and anything else that familiarises them with their home. During our pre-assessment, we use our ‘My Life Story’ to capture each resident’s background ensuring we find out likes and dislikes. Family involvement is encouraged to help us get to know our residents well.

Activities Are So Important

At Beulah Vista, it is up to our residents if they would like to participate in our daily activities programme. We have a whole approach when it comes to delivering activities to our residents but also have a designated activities coordinator to help plan and organise events.

We offer a wide range of activities that are chosen and enjoyed by our residents. Our weekly/monthly planners change to meet the choices of our residents and for those residents moving in which is captured from our ‘My Life Story’ document. Each month we carry out a resident’s meeting where we discuss new ideas and plan for the future month’s activities. We encourage relatives to suggest activity ideas when they attend the monthly relative’s meeting.

In our Café, we have a grand piano that is played by external professionals, and we also have a jukebox in the home that plays a variety of songs. Our garden is peaceful, and many people enjoy sitting by our water fountain, listening to the water. We hold regular coffee mornings where we fill in crosswords and enjoy a biscuit.
