Our Building and Facilities

At the heart of Dalby Court is a beautiful secure, central garden - a lovely place to relax with family and friends. With trellises bursting with stunning wisteria and roses, our residents find this area the perfect spot to relax in the sunshine listening to the birds. There is also a water feature and extensive lawns surrounded by wheelchair-friendly pathways, perfect for our residents with greater physical disabilities.

Dalby Court has its own Namaste room for ultimate relaxation – a popular spot for our residents living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, as well as those with sensory impairments. Residents can enjoy a foot spa or a hand massage while listening to their favourite music. There is also mood lighting, a bubble machine and other sensory equipment. This room is also perfect for pamper days, with manicures galore!

Another popular area our residents enjoy is the ‘Coulby Newham’ bar – not something you might expect to find in a care home in Middlesbrough! Our residents can enjoy a tipple of whatever takes their fancy, while playing games and enjoying a good natter. The room has also been used to celebrate private events with friends and family, such as birthdays and anniversaries, for which there’s always a home-baked cake to mark the occasion.

Activities Are So Important

In the warmer weather we love to sit in the gardens for fish and chip suppers, served in newspaper like the good old days. Also popular are our afternoon tea events, where our chef bakes cakes and scones served with jam and clotted cream.

The gardens are also perfect when we are visited by entertainers and musicians, who come to us and other care homes in Middlesbrough and the wider area of Cleveland and Teesside for special performances.

One of our staff members, who was part of a male voice choir in Middlesbrough, was inspired to start the Dalby Court care home choir after watching a programme about how beneficial singing is for our residents living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
