Carley Hunt is General Manager at Llys Cyncoed.
I started my career in care in 2011 and have worked my way up to General Manager. Overseeing the smooth running of Llys Cyncoed keeps me busy, and you definitely need to multitask and be flexible.
One of my favourite parts of the day is the time I spend with residents. I always make sure to join in the daily anagrams challenge. As well as testing my word-puzzle skills, interacting with residents helps me better understand the support they need.
I have a level five diploma in leadership for health and social care services, and learning and development is hugely important to me. In particular, I am keen to nurture colleagues who want to progress their careers. Supporting achievements means we’re always striving to do our best for each other and residents.
Llys Cyncoed's dedicated team of skilled professionals provide premium residential and dementia care on a respite and permanent basis in Cyncoed, Glamorgan.
Residents can choose from a wide range of accommodation options, as well as enjoy shared spaces such as stylish lounges, a welcoming cafe and a hair and beauty salon. Outside there are beautiful, wheelchair-friendly landscaped gardens that offer a peaceful environment for everyone to enjoy. The home is also pet friendly.
The passionate and dedicated team at Llys Cyncoed ensure that all individual needs and requirements are met. They encourage individuals to stay active and they work hard to arrange exciting events, trips and on-site activities so there is always something to do.
Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) has awarded Llys Cyncoed an ‘excellent’ silent rating* across all domains following an unannounced inspection.
Residents and their families are extremely complimentary about the care home, “I love being here”, “Its excellent living here”, and “it’s a fantastic place to live”. Inspectors found many examples of residents achieving improved wellbeing because of moving into the care home.
We are proud to have been internally accredited with the evidence-based, person-centered Care Fit for VIPS.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe | ||
---|---|---|
Since the early stages of the pandemic, our teams have been working to a pandemic plan which is updated regularly to reflect any changes to either UK or Scottish government guidance. This plan includes a range of measures aimed at both reducing the likelihood of new Covid-19 infections and reducing the spread of infections where they occur. |
Infection Control Initiatives in place | ||

Infection Control Training | Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections. | |
Infection Screening | We are using technology to screen for infections & monitor symptoms. | |
Regulatory Assessment | We have been assessed by the care regulator in our approach to infection control. | |
Virus Testing | We are testing for viral infection when symptoms present within our care setting. |

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications |

Mobile Phone Network Coverage (mobile “signal”) Yes, our care home has mobile phone signal in all our resident’s rooms. Telephone for external calling Yes, our care home provides a telephone in all our resident’s rooms. |
