Suzanne Welsh is Home Manager at Murrayside.
I’m a qualified Registered General Nurse and I joined Care UK in 2015. I’d been working as an agency nurse prior to that but I felt it was time to find a permanent role and really settle into the adult care sector. I think as a home manager it’s important to know the residents and the colleagues in your team. They are central to delivering the best care, so ensuring they’re happy and content is all-important.
The best part of any day is the opportunity to chat with my team and our wonderful residents and their families. It’s important we feel like one big family at Murrayside, so spending time together is key to that. This is a fantastic care home and I’m exciting about leading the team to even greater things.
Murrayside is a purpose-built care home in Edinburgh that offers the best residential, nursing and specialist dementia care in stunning surroundings.
All bedrooms have en-suite facilities and the home features its very own hair and beauty salon, café, bar and cinema room, plus beautiful landscaped gardens designed by landscape designer Annie Pollock.
Every aspect of care and living at Murrayside is personalised to each resident. The home team get to know each individual so they can create care and lifestyle plans that suit their unique preferences.
The lifestyle team organises regular group and one-to-one activities that are tailored to residents' interests, while community events and day trips ensure they can continue their hobbies.

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
