Meet The Manager

Andrea Barker is Home Manager at Norden House.

Andrea has over 40 years Nursing experience in various settings from serving in the QARNNS to Managing and Administering Chemotherapy in the community setting to Social Care and Managing Nursing and Residential care homes. Andrea has a commitment to providing a home that supports people whatever their needs are with a dedication to set new standards in how older people can live their lives supporting them to live the life they want to.

Norden House is a unique care home specifically designed to support those with dementia. We are located just outside of the village of Climping, not far from Climping beach and a short drive from Littlehampton and the historic town of Arundel.

Norden House is set out as four separate care hubs over two storeys, which are arranged into individual household for eight people. Each has their own kitchen, open plan lounge dining room day lounge spaces and generously sized ensuite  bedrooms many of which have their own patio garden and others affording beautiful expansive views over the gardens and country side.

Residents live in small communities with others at a similar stage of dementia or who have similar care needs; important for reducing stress and helping with socialisation.

Our philosophy of care is extended to the family and friends of residents who are pivotal in helping us to get to know the needs of our residents, especially those with dementia.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

Norden House was built using state-of-the-art facilities. It has been thoughtfully designed to incorporate the living environment and specialised training of staff.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Air Filtration & Purification We are using air filtration and/or air purification devices within our care setting.
safe-tick Independent Assessments We have been independently assessed in our approach to infection control.
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Activities Are So Important

At Norden House, wherever possible, we will support you in maintaining interest you’ve enjoyed throughout your life. You might even develop new interests during your time at Norden House with activities and social groups.

We’ve reimagined daily life for residents in our specialist care, and an important aspect of that is providing engaging activities.

At the heart of  Norden House, we’ve introduced a vibrant and welcoming central community hub that mimics a charming street setting. This thoughtfully crafted space evokes a sense of nostalgia and familiarity, featuring a cosy tea shop, a quaint hair salon, and other inviting amenities. Residents can stroll down this ‘street’, engaging in activities that feel just like a part of everyday life. Our central hub is more than just a physical space; it’s a place where residents can reminisce, connect, and continue participating in the routines they’ve known and loved.

We also go on regular trips with residents locally and ensure there is lots of activities that they can join in throughout daily life at the home.
