Meet The Manager

Andi Barker is Home Manager at Primrose House.

Andi has worked in Social Care since 1991, commencing his career as a care assistant for adults with learning disabilities for the then Humberside County Council. Andi gained numerous qualifications within the social care sector and worked his way to managing services, running two services for adults with complex dementia and challenging behaviours in 2000.

Andi brought his knowledge of person-centred care to the services he has overseen and supported the staff team in providing support that puts the residents at the heart of everything they do.

We are working within the government guidelines to help protect our staff and clients.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
safe-tick Virus Testing We are testing for viral infection when symptoms present within our care setting.
Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Activities Are So Important

Primrose Hill provides many activities for its residents to get involved with. Take its recent Creative Week, for example, which filled the home with laughter, creativity, and community spirit.

It began with the creation of delightful pompom ice creams. Using a nifty device, it made crafting accessible for everyone, even those who struggle with fine motor skills. With help from the caring staff at Primrose Hill, residents expertly cut, trimmed, and fluffed up the pompoms, resulting in charming and colourful ice creams and sparking fond memories of school days when cardboard templates were the norm.

In another session, residents crafted beautiful bookmarks. Using a blend of multi-coloured tissue paper, textured flowers, and
stickers, each bookmark became a unique piece of art. The artistic journey continued with a fun painting project. Residents
used cotton buds to create lovely flower art, with each piece radiating beauty in its own special way. In the evening, everyone’s brains got a workout during a quiz night.

Primrose House also hosted a lively Scalextric competition, bringing out everyone's competitive spirit. And over the weekend, laughter echoed through the halls during a spirited bingo session. Finally, the week wrapped up with a delightful baking session.

Events like these are a testament to the nurturing and supportive environment at Primrose House Care Home. The staff's care and attention create a home where joy and companionship thrive.

For families seeking the perfect place for their loved ones, Primrose House stands out as a haven of happiness and care. Use this link to arrange a visit today.
