Melanie MacDonald is Home Manager at Scoonie House.
"I ensure that the residents have the possibility to participate in the day-to-day running of the home to ensure that they get what they need from the home and for us to ascertain what is important to the residents.
I enjoy developing ways to promote the resident's rights and responsibilities and provide information, advice and support not only to the residents but also to their families. I'm also creating opportunities for residents to contribute to the local community and access local services, giving them a sense of freedom and belonging.
Having been at Scoonie House for a number of years, I have a vast knowledge and understanding of our home and residents."
Benefitting from a central, yet tranquil, location in the heart of the seaside village of Leven, Scoonie House is a charming Victorian home sympathetically converted to provide residential care for up to 36 elderly ladies and gentlemen.
Scoonie House care & nursing home in Fife really enjoys the best of both worlds – it is close to all the shops and amenities of Leven village centre, yet lies within a haven of mature trees and parkland. The quality of our home’s location is echoed when one steps inside. Residents’ bedrooms and communal areas are decorated and furnished to the highest standards. Our dedicated staff team work closely with residents, their families and loved ones, to ensure that each person’s care needs are understood and met. Just as importantly, our Activities Coordinator takes the time to learn about each person’s life history, working with that individual to ensure they are able to live as active a life as they wish.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications |

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
