Meet The Manager

Donna Lukoschus is Home Manager at Sherwood Forest Residential and Nursing Home.

I have worked in care for the last 18 years. My main focus is to ensure our residents and their families experience the very best care and support they could wish for and to champion our residents to take the lead on what they would like in their home.

Donna Lukoschus

Embracing the rich cultural diversity of our staff and residents, Sherwood Forest care home is set in the multi-faith area of Normanton in Derbyshire.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Our Building and Facilities

There are two hairdressing salons and a Namaste room, with soft lighting and tactile furnishings. The Namaste room is a calming retreat which enhances the mental wellbeing of our seniors. Particularly if they have complex needs, Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia.

The landscaped gardens are surrounded by wheelchair-friendly pathways, perfect for our more frail residents. We have two garden rooms which we are currently using for when relatives visit. There are three lounges, including a sun lounge, a quiet lounge and a conservatory overlooking the gardens. There is also a large dining room with access to another private garden.

We have a special lounge for the relatives of our residents who are at the end stage of their life. This enables residents and family to spend time together in dignity and privacy while being cared for by our registered nurses.

In our Forest suite, for our residents with greater dementia support needs, we have a themed retro café, with special features of the era. These are wonderful for our residents living with vascular dementia and other types of dementia, encouraging reminiscence.
