Meet The Manager

Monika Zytowiecka is General Manager at Snowdrop Place Care Home.

A local resident of Southampton area for over 18 years, I join Snowdrop Place Care Home with several years of experience as a general manager. I entered the care industry as a Care Assistant in Winchester at Flowerdown Care Home back in 2005 that’s where I found my true passion for caring for others. I immediately fell in love with the work and have not looked back since. Showing tremendous commitment and dedication, after just 7 years I  became a general manager and appointed to run my first care home.

Myself and the amazing team will continue to deliver outstanding care to all our residents, their families and friends. I always strive to make a difference in people’s lives and find it rewarding when I help somebody to live their life to the fullest. For me, this is what working in care has always been about, and I know that I can continue delivering this mission with the support of my wonderful colleagues at Snowdrop Place Care Home.

Monika Zytowiecka

Snowdrop Place is a beautiful home, designed specifically to support people living with dementia and those who require residential care. The care home has fantastic facilities, such as a cinema, an activities café, a gorgeous salon and 4 spa bathrooms. We are fortunate enough to have a Magic table here so that all our residents, but specifically our residents living with dementia, can engage in an extraordinary interactive experience.

Snowdrop Place is in a quiet setting close to the local bowls club. It is ideally situated between Botley Village and Hedge End Village; both areas offer a range of shops, places to eat and other amenities and transport links. There are some great local businesses in both villages. With close links to the M27, Snowdrop Place is easy to access from further areas.

As a Barchester home, our experienced and compassionate staff will work hard to ensure care is tailored the needs of each resident. Many of our staff are responsible for instilling our values of respect and dignity. Our person-centred approach will be reflected across all aspects of life within the home.

Our passion for our home will be seen in everything we do: in our cooking, hospitality, housekeeping and, of course, in organising activities for our residents. Activities make up the most important part of all our days and, at Snowdrop Place, we will provide a variety that reflects the interests and capabilities of all the ladies and gentlemen we support.

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

We are delighted that the majority of our residents, patients and staff have now been vaccinated. And we'll do everything we can to ensure that all new residents, patients and staff are vaccinated, where medically able to to, or are willing o be vaccinated before moving in or working in our homes and hospitals.

We also ensure that any new residents and patients coming into our homes and hospitals , whether from the local hospital or the community have been tested in advance and are negative for COVID-19.

We continue to have a robust supply chain of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) in place, and our staff are using this in accordance with the Government guidance. All of our staff, irrespective of their role will be wearing protective face masks at all times to ensure the safety of our residents and team.

We continue to implement our advanced cleaning practices, and have clear standards in the case of managing any confirmed or suspected cases.

All staff practise good hand and respiratory hygiene to prevent the spread of germs, and surfaces that are often touched are cleaned and disinfected frequently. We're proud to be the only care provider to win the RoSPA Health and Safety Award in both 2019 and 2020.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Independent Assessments We have been independently assessed in our approach to infection control.
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
safe-tick Sterilisation & Disinfection Devices We are using sterilisation and/or disinfection devices within our care setting.
safe-tick Virus Testing We are testing for viral infection when symptoms present within our care setting.
Safe Visiting Space
safe-tick We have a safe visiting space

The visiting suites are accessible internally by residents and externally by visitors, and are designed to resemble a living room - a warm and welcoming environment with comfortable furnishings.

The suite has an intercom system fitted so residents can clearly communicate, and engage in conversations, whilst being able to see their family and friends through  a Perspex glass divider fitted to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
